The Context

Every autumn, thousands of Chinese students arrive in London. They’re looking for more than just services — they want community, familiarity, and trust in a new city.

We brought together Chinese brands serving this community to host a welcome gala that felt less like marketing, and more like home.

What We Did

1. Multi-Brand Collaboration
Partnered with Fenjiu (spirits), Yuanfang Express (logistics), and HungryPanda (food delivery) — brands students actually need in their daily lives.

2. Cultural Legitimacy
Invited a representative from the Education Section of the Chinese Embassy in the UK to deliver opening remarks. This elevated the event from “brand activation” to community occasion.

3. Localized Experience
The event wasn’t about selling products. It was about creating a moment where students felt seen and welcomed in their new home.

Why It Worked

Trust through association
Embassy involvement lent credibility to the participating brands. For students navigating a new country, this kind of institutional endorsement matters.

Shared purpose > individual promotion
By coming together, brands showed they care about the community, not just transactions. This built goodwill that individual campaigns couldn’t achieve.

First impressions last
For many students, this gala was their first organized social experience in London. Brands that showed up here became part of their early UK memory.

Our Take

For brands targeting diaspora communities, cultural context is everything. A welcome event isn’t just an event — it’s a signal that you understand what people need when they’re far from home.
